Personal Statement: Dr. Alhmoud obtained her PhD in Microbiology from the University of Abertay Dundee in Dundee Scotland, UK. Her thesis topic was “Studies on the Development of Antimicrobial Tolerance in Mono-species and Binary Biofilms”. From there she joined the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) in Amman, Jordan as a project director in the Centre for Excellence in Biosafety, Biosecurity, and Biotechnology and currently serves as the center’s director. During her time at RSS she served in establishing the RSS Biosafety unit in 2009 as well as leading teams and workshops regarding reporting, water/food safety, environmental health, biosafety, biosecurity, and biorisk management topics. In addition to her work at RSS she has worked as a consultant for the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET) as well as a lecturer for the SIT Study Abroad Program helping to introduce students from a variety of nations to environmental health as an interdisciplinary area of scientific research and as a field of applied public health practices.
